Rigger / Signal Person Training

1-Day Program | Awareness & Fundamental Qualification Concepts Course Number: RSPT-101

This one-day Rigger / Signal Person seminar is designed to provide foundational knowledge for personnel involved in rigging and load handling operations. The course introduces regulatory and consensus standard requirements, core role responsibilities, and essential hazard awareness associated with rigging and signaling activities. Participants receive instruction on basic rigging hardware types, inspection awareness practices, load control principles, and standard communication methods used during lifting operations.
ANSI hand signal recognition and lift zone safety practices are emphasized, along with proper communication protocols between riggers, signal persons, and operators. The seminar includes classroom instruction, visual demonstrations, and a written knowledge evaluation to verify understanding of minimum qualification concepts.

2-Day Program | Applied Rigging & Signal Person Skill Development Course Number: RSPT-102

The two-day program expands beyond awareness-level training and focuses on applied rigging knowledge and practical signaling competency. In addition to all one-day topics, participants receive detailed instruction in load weight estimation methods, sling angle effects, hitch configurations, center-of-gravity concepts, and proper selection and use of below-the-hook rigging devices. Calculation fundamentals and lift planning elements are introduced to strengthen decision-making in the field.
Hands-on workshops and scenario-based exercises are a major component of this program. Participants perform rigging setup exercises, signaling drills (hand and radio), and lift communication scenarios under instructor supervision. Advanced lift planning concepts, more complex rigging configurations, and structured performance evaluations are incorporated to support employer qualification and documentation programs. Both written and practical evaluations are conducted.
